Free Lesson Plan – Working with Numbers in Maori

Play games and learn Maori numbers at the same time!

Learning to count in Maori is easy, but using numbers out of sequence – like we do in every day conversation when talking about prices, phone numbers, dates, time, age, etc. – can prove to be challenging for language learners. This lesson plan is best used in conjunction with Buratino’s Maori Number Cards and will help learners to master the use of Maori numbers out of sequence.

Lesson 1: Numbers 0-10

  • Step 1: Introducing the numbers
  • Step 2: “Comprehension bridge”
  • Step 3: Listening comprehension
  • Step 4: Writing and counting activities
  • Step 5: Speaking practice
  • Step 6: Reading activities
